Learning Centers/Jobs/Class Rules

This week we have been learning how to work in our literacy centers and math centers. We work with a partner in these centers. For now they work with the same partner for both, but as soon as they get the hang of it we will have different partners for each. When they begin working in their centers correctly (quietly, on task, cooperativly), I will pull small groups and work closely with students according to their ability.
In our Literacy centers we have learned to work in the Reading, Writing, Puzzles, and Computers. Next week we will learn to work in the Pocket Chart center and Magnet center.

MATH CENTERS
This week in our Math Centers we explored some of our math manipulatives, linking cubes, pattern blocks, and teddy bear counters. Next week we will add number writing skills, computers, and sorting.
CLASSROOM JOBS!
To help our class run smoothly everyone has to do their part. This means that every child will have a job to do. Some jobs are fun (line leader) and done daily others are not as much fun (encourager), but all are necessary to help things run smoothly. On Friday everyone received their 1st job assignment!

OUR CLASS RULES
Together we made a list of rules for our classroom.
See if your child knows all 5 and what they mean.

Zero the Hero Visits Room 101

behind the number 5 on our 100's chart.
Wonder what's inside!
A bag full of gummy Lifesavers! Look they are in the shape of a zero!
We did a worksheet to help us see 10 in many different ways.

Names

We spelled our own names, and then we traded with a friend and spelled their name.

Rainbow Names

We tore many tiny pieces of paper and glued them to spell our names in a rainbow pattern.

Reading Buddies

On Monday afternoons, we meet with our 4th grade reading buddies. This was our first meeting and a good time was had by all!
